Former mobile phone tycoon, Jim Morrison, 47, was pursued for £10m by former wife Diane after their 21-year marriage collapsed.
She has been awarded £1.6m at the Court of Session in Edinburgh.
Court papers revealed both sides were funded by legal aid. Scotland's four main parties have questioned why they qualified for taxpayer-funded help.
Mr Morrison once figured in a list of the richest people in Scotland and was estimated to have made £10m before his firm crashed in 2009."

Last night the Scottish Legal Aid Board refused to comment on the case due to "confidentiality" reasons. More likely due to too many questions possibly being asked as to which one of Jim Morrison's old mates in the SLAB actually sanctioned the cash!

IT OUTRAGES ME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED AS MRS MORRISON ALSO GETS OVER 1000 POUNDS PER WEEK OFF THE SOCIAL. I KNOW THIS AS I WAS ONE OF HER CARERS AND PROVIDED HER CARE SERVICES IN 2008. SHE WAS ALSO OFFERED 5000 PER MONTH AND A LARGE CASH SUM FROM HER HUSBAND WHEN HE ASKED FOR A DIVORCE AND HER FAMILY MAINLY HER BROTHER THAT STAYS WITH HER TOLD HER TO GO AFTER MORE. IT SICKENS ME THAT A WOMAN WHO HAS A VERY BIG FANCY HOUSE 6 BED ROOMS, FANCY CARS, FLYS FIRST CLASS ON HOLIDAYS AND HAS DIAMOND JEWELS I HAVE ONLY SEEN THE LIKES OF ON TV SHOWS. WHERE AS I HAVE OTHER PEOPLE WHO I CARE FOR WHO GET ALMOST NOTHING AND ARE ON THE BREAD LINE AND IN A MUCH POORER CONDITION THAN MRS MORRISON. I WORK HARD FOR NOT A LOT AND PAY MY TAXES AND THE RICH JUST GET IT. IT IS TIME FOR SOMETHING TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS.
SHE TOLD ME ABOUT HER AND HER PARENTS GOING TO AUSTRALIA FOR THE WINTER AND FLYING FIRST CLASS AND GOING TO MAURITIUS AND STAYING IN A BEACH BUNGALOW WITH 5 STAFF INCLUDING 2 COOKS THE WEEK AFTER PRINCE WILLIAM HAD STAYED THERE. AND HER 4 HOUR HELICOPTER TRIPS AROUND NEW ZEALAND AND ALASKA.
