KO56 NJT . Apparently i was involved in an accident...but this registration number does not exist !(DVLA)

Having spoken to Adrian Flux insurance services today whilst arranging a new policy for my Scirocco, I was rather alarmed to find that, according to their data base, I had been involved in an accident with someone(unknown) on September 15th 2011 driving a vehicle (unknown) which had a registration which does not exist!.

After some Googling ,calls to DVLA and checking on the ASKMID site I have now come to the conclusion that this is some sort of mistake...but why then does it show up on my insurance claim history?

Anyone else had a similar experience?

So far have spoken to MID (Motor Insurance Database) and DVLA

Just waiting on a call from IDSL (08451652803
idsl)......hope they can throw some light on this mystery :-)

UPDATE 02/07/2015

Interesting facts. The Reg number is almost identical to that of the lorry which collided with me in April 2014 (Except that 2 of the letters in the Reg number have been reversed!)

The Entry onto my Insurance record was made (according to IDSL) by Ecclesiastical Insurance services (with whom i had a policy a few years back) . Having called them today to ascertain how a false entry was made, i am yet again awaiting an anwser.

13 months later. and STILL no settlement for the accident !!

So. It appears that AVIVA have decided to continue this ongoing  farce in trying to defend the HGV driver that ran into the rear of me and wrote off my beloved Scirocco last April!

After providing diagrams, statements, photographs and even video's of the crash scene i still have to wait for ANY evidence to be submitted in the others drivers defence......yet they are seemingly prepared to go as far as at least agreeing to go to court in their attempts to "out wait" me ,perhaps hoping that i will fold at some point and accept their claim that I was somehow 50% responsible for their clients apparent inability to judge distances and control his 40 tons of wheeled destruction on that fateful day!

Dear AVIVA:

Go to Hell! Stop wasting my time and court time in your pathetic time wasting efforts. You WILL lose, and if /when we do go to court i will relish in the chance to show how you have made something out of nothing and made yourselves look stupid and incompetent by your actions.

Kwik Fit and the mystery of the Insurance renewal "error"!

.

On Wednesday my Car Insurance renewal arrived from Kwik Fit. I opened the envelope and nearly fell over after reading the quote for this years premium on the Scirocco.....£606!.

Now I realise that to some people a quote of £606 would appear to be not too bad a deal, after all I recently heard of a company quoting £3100 for a 17 year old to insure a 1 litre Nissan Micra!, and admittedly that would have been a shock.

So why then was I not impressed with the renewal quote? Well it's probably due to the fact that although I have now got one more years no claims, still have no convictions,I am another year older (and don't I know it!) and the car has no performance modifications (you can't really class charity graphics and a tow bar as "performance" enhancing!), the cost had gone up by almost £175 from the January 2009 premium.

Intrigued as to the reason for this increase , and the fact that the renewal also did not include several extras (10% discount on purchases at Kwik Fit,Free MOT,Breakdown recovery etc), I decided to log onto the Go Compare website to see if I could get a better deal.

I specified all of the requirements as per the renewal notice, in fact I also included Breakdown cover and legal expenses just for a laugh, then, after the rest of the details had been filled in I hit the return button and waited for my quotes.......

Imagine my surprise then when the third lowest quote came from...Kwik Fit Platinum Insurance!......£402 to be precise, that's £202 less than my renewal, and included more benefits!.

To cut a long story short I then called the Kwik Fit renewal line and explained my findings. The result? Well lets just say that after a rather confusing explanation by the phone sales guy, they have now agreed to insure me for £445 for fully comprehensive cover with Breakdown, excess protection and several other "extras" to boot.

The lesson is of course, never assume that your insurers have your best interests in mind, or indeed that they do anything more than churn out a random figure when your premium is due for renewal.

Remember.Never assume, always check!

Whoops! there goes your no claims bonus!

OK, just thought i should add a little variety into the blog and so i present to you this little offering that i found today which highlights what happens when you lose concentration whilst driving!.I guess that we are all guilty of having a momentary lapse of concentration, but thankfully the results aren't normally as bad as shown in this video......so please, take care out there !

AW Accident Repair Group to help S2M

Got some excellent news this morning when i recieved a phone call from Andrew Walsh, the owner of the AW Accident Repair Group. He has very kindly offered to not only paint our "work in progress" half a Scirocco trailer for us, but also to give "Scarlet" a bit of a makeover also ! and as we all know a car that looks good also drives much better :-).

This news is of great significance to our project, and I would like to just take this oppertunity to thank Andrew for his tremendous support with our challenge although it is not the first time Andrew's company has helped one of my projects out, he also helped a few years ago when the Cranwell Aviation Centre Jet Provost aeroplane needed some TLC and he very kindly sorted out a part respray for the JP which left her looking a thousand times better !.

Just got to get the trailer built now......anyone handy with an angle grinder and a mig welder ?:-)
