Yeah Ha. Welding job completed and Scarlett's back on the road again !

Today saw the completion of the welding job that Barry Iszatt started yesterday afternoon. I went down to his place this morning and assisted him in the final fixing of the steel plates and the welding up of the cracks in the bulkhead area (To be fair Barry did all the good stuff and I just helped!).

By 11:00 am the welding was finished and I then began to put the car clutch cable assembly back together again, refit the air cleaner and the vacuum reservoir and put the drivers seat back in that I removed yesterday to allow more access into the cabin whilst welding the bulkhead from the inside of the car.

Can I just say a very big thank you to Barry who not only did a top job on the welding, but then declined to accept payment for his hard work. It is people like Barry, John at Pitstop, John at Wheelcraft and Biff at Pawprints that make my plans a lot easier to achieve, and who's combined help has allowed my to keep the car on the road during the last 3 years.

Thanks to the guys at Pitstop .............again ! :-)

Yesterday saw me taking the Scirocco into Pitstop garage in Sleaford (one of my sponsors for S2M).The problem ,as I mentioned in an earlier post,was that the right hand wheel bearing had died a death after our little trip last year, and it has only taken me 11 months to get around to having it sorted :-0.Anyway, as usual the folk down at Pitstop did a great job and sorted it out along with another front suspension bush which was also a little the worse for wear.
Just wanted to say thanks for their continued support in keeping Scarlet going :-).Cheers guys !.

AW Accident Repair Group to help S2M

Got some excellent news this morning when i recieved a phone call from Andrew Walsh, the owner of the AW Accident Repair Group.He has very kindly offered to not only paint our "work in progress" half a Scirocco trailer for us, but also to give "Scarlet" a bit of a makeover also ! and as we all know a car that looks good also drives much better :-).

This news is of great significance to our project, and I would like to just take this oppertunity to thank Andrew for his tremendous support with our challenge although it is not the first time Andrew's company has helped one of my projects out, he also helped a few years ago when the Cranwell Aviation Centre Jet Provost aeroplane needed some TLC and he very kindly sorted out a part respray for the JP which left her looking a thousand times better !.

Just got to get the trailer built now......anyone handy with an angle grinder and a mig welder ?:-)
