Fuel Protest's are planned for UK. Let me know your views.

.

As the cost of Diesel in the UK edges closer to £1.40 per litre there has been a resurgence in calls for the public to fight back against these crippling costs by way of some form of protest.

As you will know if you read this blog on a regular basis, I travel over 86 miles per day to my job and back, and I am currently spending £13 per day to complete this trip. Only 4 years ago It cost me £9 per day!.

I remember the fuel protests that took place a few years ago which, although they did cause me a few problems due to lack of fuel supplies, also gave me a feeling of satisfaction in the fact that for the first time (in my experience) the public had shown those in charge (or pretending that they were!) that they could take a stand and at the very least make these overpaid, perk ridden politicians that they had a voice.

I am not stupid, I understand that the country is in a state and needs to generate cash, but with MP's living in cloud cuckoo land enjoying a variety of unfair allowances which cushion the effects of living in the "real" UK, I, along with millions of other hard working people that are hit by the ever increasing burden, get more and more p*ssed off.

We need to protest there is no need for fuel prices to be so high I believe the reasons for all this money grabbing and so called austerity is We caught the MP's with their hands in the till now they are teaching us a lesson previously they had no qualms about easing things by borrowing money to keep the country afloat so whats different now?

i'm sick to death of rising diesil prices and bad roads full of potholes its time the government started looking after motorists instead of taxing us to the hilt and showing nothing in return. it seems all of us that drive who pay taxes in all areas that help run this country are funding other projects and a benefit system that is a total joke its time we stood up and protest about what matters not protesting about student fees which is secondry to us motorists. the price for a quarter of a tank is costing me just about 30 pounds for a 1.8 litre engine. time to stand up people

I have only a small engine car. It a 1.0 Micra! I was out of petrol. So of i trotted to this garage 129.9 was the price I put £15.00 in the tank. And I traveled 45 miles 1 way. The lot went!! I just had about 5 miles left to refuel again.
There is a couple of comments left on here that i do agree with. I mean what is this county coming to.

Come april 2011 the price of fuel with go up again leading the price of petrol to be at 155.9 at the moment its 125.9
What is the world coming to in the uk. 10 years ago it was 65.9

I think the need to protest is un avoidable. We are being taken for a ride, the cost on the average household and small businesses will undoubtably drive people to give up working and live off of the state.
Apparently the lorry drivers were legislated against to stop them blocking the roads and driving down the motorway at 20mph.
We the average motorist however still have that power and could force the country to listen by having coordinated days of action grinding the road network to a halt!!
How much longer must we stand buy and just except what is happening to fuel costs?

Hi I'm Phil from Telford. With the sky high
fuel prices I've now decided to leave my
car in the garage for the time being!!
Just as well I'm out of work at the moment.
I'm now feeling angry though for all those
hard pressed average families who have no
choice but to commute to work in their cars
and pay these ridiculous prices at the pump
to keep the tax grabbing government happy!
And why shouldn't they use their cars when
they've already paid for a costly road tax disc
and ever increasing insurance?!!
Driving becoming a joke and only affordable
to the rich where £1.27 per litre means nothing
to them!! It's a luxury for everybody else it
seems!!
Come on let's blockade the oil refineries and
see how long the government can put up with loss of
tax revenue!! Something needs to be done
soon!

Its about time we stood together and told the government where to stick their price rises, we have all had a rough time over the last year or two without them screwing us for more cash.
How long before they make it a criminal offence to disagree with anything they say.
Up the revolution!

We cannot base our fuel costs with other EU countries as we have to run a free NHS system, which is available to all. But I am confused, why, when the price of oil was $150.00 a barrel,we paid £1.30a litre and oil is now around $100.00 a barrel we pay the same price and there are moves to increase this to £1.50.

Egyptians have shown how the Status Quo can make a government see reason.

We need to stand together regardless of our debt situation and bring the country to a standstill. This is the only language the government will listen to.

so when are we the UK going to protest, as we all keep saying that we need to, but we all seem to be waiting for something else to happen,to make our blood really boil. or is it that we all like just moaning and hope that it will all sort itself out eventually.

I have had enough!! I am totally brassed off with the apethetic attitude of the British public. We are being ripped off by the UK gov`t over astronomical fuel costs £142 in Fisguard for Diesel.what the ~@*> is going on. Unite and stand up for once in your lives back those who want to act and be counted. last time there were fuel protests the public did not give support, just saying what a wretched inconvenience it caused. What about NOW!

The time for talk was 40 pence when fuel was 1.00, I know people who cannot afford to get to work. As for this stupid pair of tossers in power, how the jeff are our exports via lorries going to be competative against the rest of europe when our fuel is through the roof. In short unless we get out there and start action this country is going to grind to a halt. Less procrastination more action, what do we have to lose???

Simple way to force the useless morons in government to end their theft from motorists....invite 20 friends to drive to Parliament Square - at the lights, they all switch of their engines and refuse to move = total gridlock and MPs can't get out. And didn't that jerk Cameron promise that when oil prices were high they would lower duty 9and vice-versa)? Another broken promise are the idiots not clever enough to do the maths?
